Full Body

Start by cutting down the back legs. When the anus is reached, make sure you cut below 1/2" in a horse shoe shape. Start from your cut and go forward towards the brisket, and stop between the front legs. Cut down each front leg to your belly cut. Skin that out then make a Y at the back of the head to get the horns off a horned animal. (For a non-horned animal, tube it all the way out without splits on the neck over the face.) Tube it out up to the skull, you only need a 6-8" cut. Peel around the antlers, cutting the ears off as close to the skull as possible. Continue down the head to the eyes, careful not to cut off the eyelids. Down around the lips and nose cutting as close to the bone as possible.

Rug

When skinning for rug mounts begin your cut approximately 4 inches from the end of the chin and continue to cut straight down the throat and belly to the end of the tail. Cut from the center of the pads down inside of the legs to the center of cut. Leave the feet, and head for the taxidermist to skin.
